During the summer holidays of “Going to the seaside is every child’s right” programme, we wish to teach children new competencies – “NEW SKILLS” as the children say, in the increasingly used English jargon.
Our goal is to ensure that this new knowledge is of help to them when they return to their surroundings and that they can use it to stand out in school, society or extracurricular activities.
For this first season of “Going to the seaside is every child’s right” programme, we have prepared a real treat in terms of acquiring new competences. Damir Hoyka, a prominent Croatian photographer, will hold his famous PhotoWalk photography workshop for the children involved in the programme. However, this workshop is special in every sense, because Hoyka, as a real professional should, will be assisted by his daughters, Tia and Zoe.
It will be a transfer of knowledge in which children will also teach children … of course, we expect a lot of laughter and fun. All we need is for each child in the workshop to have a cell phone with a working camera and we can start… Don’t worry, we’ve taken care of that too.
Damir has briefly explained the concept of the workshop to us:
“PhotoWalk is a photography workshop, designed for easy implementation and participation, by students of all profiles. The focus of the level 1 workshop is how to spot a motif and shoot it in a compositionally correct, ‘photo literate’ way. The theoretical part is designed to be comprehensible to persons of all levels of photography knowledge, and the photos are made with a mobile phone. In the introductory part, the participants are provided with a set of basic instructions for taking better photos. After the introduction, the participants go on a ‘walk’, during which they take photos, show me the photos they took on the screen of their mobile phone, and receive individual feedback and instructions from me.”
“Going to the seaside is every child’s right” PhotoWalk will be realized as follows:
– each workshop will last 60 minutes
– the children will be divided into 6 groups – 4 groups of five and 2 groups of six children
– photo workshops will be realized in 2 rounds (with 3 groups per round)
We are curious to see what kind of photos will be shaped by children’s perception and imagination!
A big thank you to Damir, Tia and Zoe for such a wonderful gift!
